7. UPPER TUNGA PROJECT

Upper Tunga Project envisages construction of a new dam 100m downstream  of  the  existing  Tunga  anicut  near Gajanoor in  Shimoga  district  to irrigate  94,698 Ha in Shimoga,  Honnali, Haveri,  Harihara,  Hirekerur,  Ranebennur  and Hanagal taluks.

ØDam and Allied works under progress
•Foundation excavation - about 80% completed.
•Concreting - about 25% completed
•Embankment works - about 85% completed.
ØUTP Canal (339 Km.)
•Works from Km. 2 to 10 almost completed.
•Tenders for works from Km. 11 to 69 estimated to cost Rs. 127 crores finalised and works are in full swing.
•Tenders under finalisation for Km. 70 to 103.
•Tenders invited for Km 104 to 123
•Tenders under finalisation for aqueduct at Km 124.
•Tenders under finalisation for Km 125. to 140
•Tenders invited for Km. 141 to 168 Km.
ØWork order for tunnel at Km 169 to 174 issued and works are started.
ØSurvey works under progress from Km. 175 to 339.
ØSurvey works of Distributories under progress.
